CREATION & PROCESS
Yu's Work
Yu Chen was born with the gift of creativity. He has an expansive skill set in many art forms, including painting, drawing, book binding, and architectural models. His great attention to detail and high level of patience is evident in the complex art he creates. His works appear very measured, but amazingly enough, Yu Chen does not need to use a ruler or even a straight edge in creating these intricate works!
Creativity beyond the brush
As a natural born artist, Yu's creativity extends beyond physical paintings and 3D models. After painting a series of beautiful birds, Yu decided to turn them into giant playing cards. This was the beginning inspiration of the 'Birds of Paradise' print.
'Bird of Diamonds'
Another painting by Yu that inspired the 'Birds of Paradise' print.
'Love Birds'
This work by Yu was created using oil pastels, and can be seen on our 'Brit Tee'.
A Proud Artist
Yu, also known as 'Caleb', proudly showing off one of his abstract works of art.
'A Yellow Daisy'
One of Yu's quick, expressive floral paintings, that is found in the 'Birds of Paradise' print.
An Eye for Composition
No matter what form of art Yu is creating, he expresses a natural sense of color and composition.
'City of Dreams'
Cities, buildings and architecture are Yu's favorite subject matters. He doesn't even need to look at a photo to create iconic New York City cityscapes. This artwork was translated into embroidery on our 'Brit Tee'.
An Ode to Heritage
In addition to iconic New York City buildings and landscapes, Yu will often also create works of art influenced by his Chinese heritage. Yu is fluent in both Cantonese and English.
'New York, New York'
Another beautiful painting by Yu of a New York City building.
Endless Possibilities
Yu's favorite thing about art is that he is able to "make whatever I want"!
